Food and Wine -- what to do when not working

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Occasionally, there are times that one doesn't spend working, and those times are for eating, drinking,  and talking.  (I think it's called having a life.)

Where to go tonight?  The best guide to eating and all things culinary in Chicago is LTHFORUM. Over the past few years, we've come to know and trust the reviews and recommendations of many of the prolific posters, including GWiv, JiminLoganSquare and Ronnie Suburban.

How do you pay for it?  Using Rewards Network (RN), we get 10-20% off at particpating restaurants. We also buy coupons from Restaurant.com. A really good night is dining with a $25 coupon purchased for $3 and getting a double reward from RN.  It's even better if we can also use gift card from OpenTable.

Some of our current favorites:

  • Erwin -- American, upscale comfort food, locally produced, well prepared. They have a couple of different prix fixe specials going on now, including a great $18 bargain.  Tuesday, it's fried chicken! Last time, the included desert was a root beer float.
  • Los Moles -- Extremely interesting, not like every other place, Mexican food.  The sauces are fantastic, the staff is friendly, and its currently BYOB.
  • Sidestreet Saloon --  A shout-out for Chris, the world's best bartender.  Chris, how about a beer- o'-the-month and an Italian Chicken, regular fries. Thanks.

More later....
