Yet another IE vulnerability has hit the streets.

Microsoft says

Our initial investigation has revealed that if you turn off Active Scripting, that will prevent the attack as this requires script.

The Register puts a finger through the bubble in this article, quoting [Dr.] Eric Schmidt:
"Office is not the business we're in," Schmidt told journalists in New York.

David Pogue's New York Times blog has a link to a website that documents how to scrub your cellphone before you sell it, trade it in, or give it away.

Until I put up this blog, I had no idea what blogspam was. Now, I get 15-20 "comments" posted each week to items on this blog. Usually, they're a list porn sites or sites for erectile disfunction. (I guess you use the latter if the former doesn't help.)

Thanks to the good people at Akismet, I don't have to do much about it. But this is yet one more thing that pollutes the e-world.

Microsoft has released beta 2 of Windows Defender, the successor to Microsoft AntiSpyware (beta 1). It installed well on my machine, although I removed MS AntiSpyware first. Happily, neither the removal nor installation required a reboot.

Now, I've got a problem. Windows Defender will not update itself. It fails with an error 0x8024402c. Buzzing around through Microsoft's site, it seems that this error is related to Windows Update.

Yahoo has release AJAX libraries and gadgets (called patterns) under an OSS license. These will find their way into the new CCIM website.
